Hi Barbara!

Yes... the analogy to investing is a good one. I've always been reluctant to invest in bonds because I don't feel like I really understand how bonds get valued. Yesterday I was looking at my retirement accounts (ouch!) Most of the stock funds are down by 30-40% for the year. One of the bond funds was down by about 10%. The other bond fund was down by 80%! And I'm sure I wouldn't have known the difference between those bond funds. So I'm glad I stuck to stuff I understood.

"don’t ... change code that you don’t understand."

This sounds like a pretty good universal rule, no?

I heard something similar this morning on the Daily Show:

"Don't invest in something when you don't understand how it makes money"

Wow, is that good advice! ;o)
